THE WB ACHIEVES ANOTHER WEEK OF GROWTH, SCORING #1 ADULT GAINS AMONG ALL NETWORK AND OUTPACING LAST YEAR'S AVERAGE BY +23% IN ADULTS 18-34 

SEASON-TO-DATE, THE WB IS WELL AHEAD OF CBS IN PERSONS & FEMALES 12-34 


BURBANK, CA (December 12, 2000) - The WB Network once again scored the strongest year-to-year gains of any network across the 12-34, 18-34 and 18-49 demographics for the week of December 4-10. The WB was up significantly vs. the same week a year ago in adults 18-34 (1.6, +23%), women 18-34 (2.1, +31%), men 18-34 (1.2, +33%), adults 18-49 (1.5, +25%), women 18-49 (1.8, +20%) and men 18-49 (1.1, +22%). The network also achieved solid increases over last year in persons 12-34 (1.9, +12%), females 12-34 (2.4, +9%) and males 12-34 (1.4, up +17%). This was in sharp contrast with the major networks, as ABC, CBS and FOX were all down compared with the same week last year, while NBC secured narrow year-to-year gains. 
The WB remains well ahead of last year on a season-to-date basis and is ahead of CBS for the season in persons 12-34 (2.4/7 vs. 2.3/7) and females 12-34 (3.1/9 vs. 2.5/8). 

The gains season-to-date gains are most evident across the 18-34 and 18-49 demo categories. The network has grown +22% in rating over the same period a year ago among adults 18-34 (2.2), built +17% in rating among women 18-34 (2.8) and improved +33% in rating among men 18-34 (1.6). The WB also registers year-to-year growth among adults 18-49 (1.9, +19%), women 18-49 (2.3, +10%), men 18-49 (1.4, +27%), persons 12-34 (2.4, +4%) and males 12-34 (1.8, up +20%). The WB continues to lead the pack among female teens with a 4.2.

The WB's Highlights For Monday, December 4: 

"7th Heaven" & "Roswell" Score Another Monday Of Across-The-Board Growth 

The WB's Monday line-up is still showing outstanding growth versus the parallel night a year ago across all key demographics. The network was up year-to-year among persons 12-34 (2.4, +20%), women 12-34 (3.2, +23%), men 12-34 (+21%), women 18-34 (2.0, +33%), women 18-34 (2.6, +44%) and men 18-34 (+27%). The WB was also vastly improved over last year among adults 18-49 (+27%), women 18-49 (+20%) and men 18-49 (+30%). 

7TH HEAVEN posted impressive double-digit growth versus the equivalent night a year ago across every key demo. The family drama delivered increases in adults 18-34 (2.5, +67%), women 18-34 (3.1, +63%), men 18-34 (+58%), persons 12-34 (3.1, +48%), women 12-34 (4.0, +54%), men 12-34 (+40%), adults 18-49 (2.4, +50%), women 18-49 (3.1, +48%) and men 18-49 (+60%). teens 12-17 (4.6/14, +31%), female teens (6.6, +38%) and male teens (+23%). The 7TH HEAVEN repeat defeated an original Titans on NBC across the 12-34 demographics and was extremely competitive across the 18-34 and 18-49 with the relocated NBC drama. 

ROSWELL airing against original programming on ABC, NBC and FOX, still delivered growth over the prior year in adults 18-34 (+7%) and women 18-34 (2.1, +17%).

The WB Scores Huge Year-To-Year Growth In All Age Groups, Including +92% In Women 12-34 As It Ranked Tied For #2 For The Night In Women 12-34 

An Hour Of 'Sabrina' Achieves #2 Rank In Women 12-34 & #3 Rank In Persons 12-34; "Popular" Pops In All Of Its Target Demos 

The WB's new Friday line-up of back-to-back episodes of SABRINA, THE TEENAGE WITCH and POPULAR continues to make tremendous strides in the network's key demos, showing dramatic year-to-year growth. 

For the night, The WB achieved +64% growth in women 18-34, +20% in adults 18-34, +92% in women 12-34, +45% in persons 12-34. +55% in women 18-49, +20% in adults 18-49, +139% in female teens, +80% in total teens, +52% in total viewers and +41% in households. 

Competitively, The WB finished in a tie for #2 in women 12-34 and #1 for the night in female teens. 

The first episode of SABRINA, THE TEENAGE WITCH was ahead of the time-period performance of a year ago in women 18-34 (+21%), adults 18-34 (+9%), women 12-34 (+64%), persons 12-34 (+36%), women 18-49 (+31%), adults 18-49 (+18%), female teens (+225%), teens (+167%), male teens (+29%), total viewers (+50%) and households (+37%). 

Competitively, SABRINA at 8:00 p.m. placed in a tie for #2 in women 12-34 ahead of "Two Guys & a Girl" on ABC, "The Fugitive" on CBS and tied with "Providence" on NBC. It also topped "The Fugitive" and "Freedom" in persons 12-34 and was #1 in the time period in female teens. 

The second episode of SABRINA was ahead of the time-period performance of a year ago in women 18-34 (+43%), adults 18-34 (+27%), women 12-34 (+100%), persons 12-34 (+64%), women 18-49 (+75%), adults 18-49 (+36%), female teens (+257%), teens (+173%), male teens (+38%), total viewers (+80%) and households (+61%). 

Competitively, the second episode of SABRINA finished #2 in women 12-34 ahead of the premiere of "Dot Comedy" on ABC, "The Fugitive," "Providence," and "Freedom." 

SABRINA finished #3 in both persons 12-34 and women 18-34 topping "Dot Comedy" and "The Fugitive" and also defeated "Dot Comedy" in adults 18-34. The 8:30 p.m. episode was the #1 show for the night in female teens. 

POPULAR finished off the night by continuing the growth story. It out-scored the time period performance of a year ago in women 18-34 (+89%), adults 18-34 (+22%), women 12-34 (+92%), persons 12-34 (+33%), women 18-49 (+50%), adults 18-49 (+22%), female teens (+86%), total teens (+35%), total viewers (+36%) and households (+31%). 

POPULAR finished #3 at 9:00 p.m. in women 12-34, ahead of "Norm" and "Madigan Men" on ABC and "Dateline" on NBC. POPULAR also out-rated "Norm" and "Madigan Men," while tying "Dateline" in persons 12-34 and ahead of "Norm" and "Madigan Men" in women 18-34. POPULAR ranked #1 in for the hour in female teens.
