I saved this story a long time ago to explain all about the Italian Breath Mint Commerical I can't remember who posted it, but I'm sure it was probably one of the Spoiled Dreamers.

OK, here's the story. This commercial ONLY aired in Italy. One of the posters on the M&L spoiler board lives in Italy--Chicca. Anyway, she saw it and started talking about it. Everyone asked for more detail; she described the commercial in great detail. Italian VCR technology is different than North American VCRs, so Chicca made a tape and sent it to scotlore. Between scotlore, Star2000monkey, & ROS-G-MOM, they managed to transfer the Italian tape into the video file that 6throck provided the link for. I'm not sure how many steps that took, but that's why the picture quality isn't so great. However, the four of them went to a LOT of trouble to get that in a form that we could all see! And 6throck helped too, by making her animations from it so that those people who couldn't d/l the video could still see it.

The commerical first appeared on the Spoiled Dreamers board on Valentine's Day, February 14, 2001. It was a gift from Star, scotlore, Ros-G-Mom, and Chicca. It soon spread across the boards, and many people have been able to enjoy it in some form or another. I told my friend about it, but she wasn't able to download it at work that day, so that's why I quickly whipped up the animation, so at least she would be able to see that.

The original commercial that Chicca so wonderfully provided us was not from Cable TV, this was the reason for the quality. Some of the visitors with slower connections had trouble at first downloading the file, which is why Teresa so graciously asked to do an ani. Thanks, T.

Alot of hard work and expense went into the transferring of this commercial, but it was also alot of fun. Of course the morale of most had yet to take the fall. Chicca, Scotlore and Star did a fabulous job. I just created the site and uploaded the huge file. Too bad I didn't have a cable connection back then, it would have gone much faster.

Geesh, in just 2 1/2 years, the technology has changed so much that it would be a piece of cake to do it now.

Only one little correction.

Chicca (the sweetheart) originally sent it to me. I paid to have it transferred into US format, and it was NOT cheap. The others (Scotlore and Ros-G-Mom ) worked dozens and hundreds of hours to get it to where most people could see it online. They did it as a gift to the Dreamers. Bless them.

The quality is not good. The funny thing about that, though, is that someone tried a year or so ago to claim it was THEIRS (so to speak) and they taped it off a channel here. Not like most US channels play anything in Italian, but here's the kicker. There is a particular error in it that is due to the videotape I have. And that error was still there. <<snicker>>

But forget all that. JB was so Yum-yum in that commercial!

Yes, very little could match the thrill of the Valentine unveiling of that commercial - definitely one of the great moments in JB fan history :> - and thanks to everybody involved in making it available to Jason's fans in the US (and from everyplace else who visits Fanforum).
